Welcome to the Diamond Valley Amateur Radio Group’s QTH on the Web. The Diamond Valley Amateur Radio Group is owned and maintained by Bob Brown KE6JGM, Marcos Montes KN6UNL and Karen Stewart KN6MJS and it’s membership. We are not a Ham radio club. Our objective is to provide a place to gather with other ham radio operators in our area, no matter if they are affiliated with a club or not. It’s free to join and we have only two rules. #1- no drama and #2 – have fun! Bob is a Volunteer Examiner for ARRL and provides testing to those wanting to get or upgrade their Amateur Radio Operators License. Bob is also looking to recruit some new “Yoot’s” (reference: “My Cousin Vinny”) and have them join us in the Ham Radio world. It’s up to us to mentor and educate the ‘Smart Phone’ generation, that when there are power failures, which are happening more frequently, the cell towers, even the grid, no longer work. Most contact with the outside world stops. That is when amateur radio operators, or Hams, have an advantage most people don’t have. We can still communicate with other operators across the country and even across the world. We can teach them what equipment they need to get started so they can talk with other hams. We can show them off the grid options, like using HT’s, HF radios and SHF radios. We can explain how we can get involved with Emergency Disaster Preparations when there are natural disasters or other events and we are the only line of communication available. We can assist with other agencies that help rescue people and arrange deliveries of aid to those in need. We also do fun things using our radios, like going to Fox Hunts, Parades, POTA, SOTA, JOTA, Microwave and Field Day events. Doing all sorts of digital radio Yaesu System Fusion, D Star and DMR. Having breakfasts and other gatherings plus the best part of being a ham radio operator is the incredible, like-minded friends that you are going to meet that share your passion.
